Hot Air is back and the 2015 festival is full of promise: Eleven premieres, including a new work by SFCM composer Sahba Aminikia for the Areon Flutes. Friction Quartet, Ignition Duo and International Low Brass join the Festival again, and we're looking forward to welcoming the legendary Mills College Gamelan Ensemble to our stage for the first time. In addition to works of recent vintage, such as SFCM composer Lucas Floyd’s Violin Concerto (2014) and Dylan Mattingly’s Gone, Gone, Gone (2012), we’re presenting contemporary “classics”: Silas Patlove brings us Reich’s New York Counterpoint, Helen Newby performs Saariaho’s Petals for cello and electronics, and Anna Bush dispatches McAllister’s Black Dog.
All this and more, on Sunday, March 15 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Admission is free!
